Arsenal is now leading the race for Benjamin Sesko, the £45m-rated forward, as the Slovenian international prefers a move to the Emirates amidst intense competition.
RB Leipzig’s striker, Sesko, has attracted interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, as well as clubs in Italy. However, Arsenal seems to have the upper hand, with Sesko favoring a move to North London.
This is great news for the Gunners, as manager Mikel Arteta seeks a young striker to develop alongside Kai Havertz, who had a standout season. Sesko’s agent, Elvis Basanovic, has attended several Arsenal matches this season, and with Sesko turning 21 soon, he looks like a perfect fit.
Although Sesko joined RB Leipzig only a year ago, he has been part of the Red Bull club system since 2019, starting at Red Bull Salzburg. Leipzig is willing to sell if the right deal comes along.
Sesko is part of Slovenia’s squad for the Euros, set to face England in the group stages in Germany. Standing at 6ft 5in, he has an impressive goal-scoring record and has been on Arsenal’s radar throughout the season.
Arsenal has also scouted Ajax’s Brian Brobbey and been linked to Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, but Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak are no longer considered targets.
While Arsenal isn’t planning a superstar signing this summer, they’re in the market for an emerging No. 9 and a winger. A move for a midfielder is also possible if Thomas Partey leaves.
The club has funds to spend but is anticipating some departures, with Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, and Emile Smith Rowe potentially on their way out. Bayern Munich is also monitoring Oleksandr Zinchenko’s situation.
