Arsenal’s Striker Search: A Goal-Getter Needed to Clinch the Title
Arsenal are on the cusp of Premier League glory, having narrowly missed out on the title in the past two seasons. To finally cross the finish line, many believe a prolific striker is the missing piece in Mikel Arteta’s puzzle.
The Gunners have bolstered other areas of the squad, notably with the signings of Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya. However, the search for a clinical finisher to complement the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remains a top priority. Links to Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez and Viktor Gyokeres have circulated, but a familiar face might be the answer, according to a Premier League legend.
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Arsenal are on track for the title but could benefit significantly from a proven goalscorer. “They’ve scored plenty of goals and set pieces were a huge weapon for them,” Scholes said. “But a genuine number nine capable of netting 25-30 goals, like Manchester City have, would be a game-changer. Ivan Toney is often mentioned, and I think he could thrive at Arsenal.”
Intriguingly, Brentford, Toney’s current club, are reportedly open to selling the prolific striker for as little as £40 million this summer. With his contract expiring next year, the Bees are keen to avoid losing him for free.
As Arsenal fans eagerly await their team’s next move in the transfer market, the pressure is on to find the striker who can fire them to Premier League glory.
