“Clemson’s Brad Brownell Shuts Down Indiana Rumors – ‘Not Interested’ in Hoosiers Job!”

Clemson’s Brad Brownell Shuts Down Indiana Coaching Rumors

The Indiana Hoosiers are still battling for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but many fans are already looking ahead to the offseason—and more specifically, who will be the program’s next head coach. While some schools, like Florida State, have already secured their new hires—Luke Loucks in their case—Indiana’s search remains wide open.

However, every time a name emerges as a potential candidate, that coach seems to shut down the speculation. It happened with Brad Stevens and Dusty May, and now Clemson head coach Brad Brownell has made it clear that he’s not considering a move to Bloomington either.

When asked about his name being linked to the Indiana job, Brownell didn’t mince words:

“I’m not going to talk about potential jobs, I have a great job,” Brownell said in a press conference. “I am 100% focused on this team and what we have ahead of us and trying to do everything I can to help us continue to win the next game.”

Clemson basketball reporter Chapel Fowler shared Brownell’s full response:

Brownell’s Legacy at Clemson

Now in his 15th season at Clemson, Brownell has built a strong program. He has led the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 run in 2018 and an Elite Eight appearance just last year in 2024. Under his leadership, Clemson has also made four NIT appearances, meaning the team has qualified for postseason play in all but six of his seasons.

Brownell even referenced his deep ties to the school, mentioning that he has sent both of his daughters to Clemson. With that kind of connection, it’s no surprise he’s not eager to leave.

What’s Next for Indiana?

Indiana is searching for a coach who can bring consistency—someone who can at least make the NCAA Tournament or NIT regularly. Brownell fits that mold, but he seems firmly committed to staying at Clemson. Of course, in college basketball, things can change fast.

After Brownell, several other names are circulating in the coaching rumor mill, but no official moves are expected until Indiana’s season comes to an end. Until then, the speculation will continue.
