USC Targets South Carolina Commit Peyton Dyer in Latest Recruiting Push
The USC Trojans continue to flex their recruiting muscle, solidifying their place atop the 2026 recruiting rankings while setting their sights on top talent nationwide. Their latest target? Peyton Dyer, a four-star cornerback currently committed to South Carolina.
Dyer himself revealed the news, announcing on Tuesday that USC extended an offer despite his ongoing commitment to the Gamecocks. While he remains pledged to South Carolina, history suggests that a USC offer carries serious weight—especially in this recruiting cycle.
USC’s Aggressive Recruiting Moves
The Trojans have been among the most relentless programs on the recruiting trail this year. They’ve already pulled off a high-profile flip, successfully convincing four-star quarterback Jonas Williams to decommit from Oregon and join USC on Feb. 21.
Additionally, USC landed four-star edge rusher Simote Katoanga, who turned down offers from powerhouse programs, including Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
Flipping SEC-bound recruits is nothing new for the Trojans, either. In the previous cycle, they flipped former Mississippi State commit Steve Miller, a cornerback from Georgia, who is now part of USC’s 2025 class. Interestingly, Miller and Dyer share a home state, as Dyer currently stars for Duluth High School.
USC’s Pursuit of Dyer
USC officially ramped up its pursuit of Dyer in January, with secondary coach Doug Belk making a personal visit to his high school.
“I was blessed. I had a conversation with Coach Belk in person after he came up to my school,” Dyer told Chris Trevino of 247Sports. “He is a great coach. Looking forward to seeing me down there.”
Dyer has now scheduled an official visit to USC for June 6, further fueling speculation about a potential flip.
“Me and Coach Belk’s relationship is starting to get heavy. I feel we have a great relationship,” Dyer added.
What’s Next for Dyer?
If USC can sway him, Dyer would become the fourth cornerback pledge for the Trojans’ 2026 class. The group already includes:
- Four-star RJ Sermons (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) – USC’s highest-ranked CB commit
- Four-star Brandon Lockhart (Loyola, Los Angeles)
- Three-star Madden Riordan (Sierra Canyon, Chatsworth) – Committed since November 2023
However, South Carolina and Georgia remain firmly in the race, as Dyer has visits scheduled for both programs. The battle for one of the nation’s top defensive backs is far from over, but USC is making its presence felt once again in the national recruiting scene.
